How to Count Omer of the Ages

The Counting of Omer in Hebrew is called "Sefirat Ha'Omer".  In the Hebrew tradition the counting of Omer represents the forty-nine day journey from slavery in Egypt, through the desert, to the receiving of the Torah on Mt. Sinai by Moses.  The 49 day journey was spent in preparation to receive the Light of Torah on the 50th day.  The 50th day is called Shavuot and is the same day as Pentecost.  On Shavuot the Hebrews received the Light of Torah and on Pentecost the disciples received the Baptism of The Holy Spirit.

"You shall count seven full weeks from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf (Omer) of the wave offering. You shall count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath.  Then you shall present a grain offering of new grain to the Lord." (Leviticus 23:15-16)

According to the scriptures of Lev. 23:15 the counting of Omer begins on Sunday after the first Sabbath that follows Passover and ends on the Sunday after the Seventh Sabbath, the 50th day.
In the Hebrew tradition there are different schools of thought as to when the counting of Omer begins, but in general the counting of Omer is between Passover and Shavuot.
Omer is a measurement of Barley.  During the 49 days the seeds of Barley are transformed into the seeds of Light and Love that are gathered together on the 50th day when the Light of Torah is received.
Torah can also mean instruction, and in this case it is the Instruction of Light and Love that transforms us through this passage of time until the next Counting of Omer.  On the 50th day the Omer becomes one bread and one body and Torah is received, The Light of the Holy Spirit is received.
"That we may become one bread and one body we count Omer".
To understand "Sefirat Ha'Omer" we need to know that there are ten "Sefirat" that are known in plural as "Sefirot".  The Sefirot are known as the "Shining Ones" of the "Tree of Life", the Kabbalah.  Of the Ten Sefirot the Lower Seven are the ones counted during the 49 days of Omer.

The Seven Sefirot

Chesed- Loving Kindness (Sunday)
Gevurah- Discipline (Monday)
Tiferet- Compassion (Tuesday)
Netzach- Endurance (Wednesday
Hod- Humility (Thursday)
Yesod- Bonding (Friday)
Malchut- Nobility (Saturday-Sabbath)

Kabbalah-for-Omer

Each of the Seven Sefirot have a spiritual quality or attribute and that attribute is the primary influence for one week and on each day of that week one of the Seven Sefirot has a minor influence.
For example: The first week is the week of Chesed (Loving Kindness). The first day of that week is also Chesed (Loving Kindness). The first day of the week of Chesed is "Loving Kindness in Loving Kindness." The second day of the week of Chesed is Gevurah (Discipline). So the second day of the week of Chesed is "Discipline in Loving Kindness." The third day of the week of Chesed is Tiferet (Compassion). The third day of the week of Chesed is "Compassion in Loving Kindness." The pattern continues throughout the week of Chesed.
The Second week of Omer is the week of Gevurah (Discipline)….. The first day of the week of Gevurah is Chesed (Loving Kindness). So the first day of the week of Gevurah is "Loving Kindness in Discipline." The second day of the week of Gevurah is "Discipline in Discipline." The third day of the week of Gevurah is "Compassion in Discipline." The pattern continues for the seven weeks of Counting of Omer.

Counting Omer of the Ages

"Count off seven sabbath years (seven weeks of years)--seven times seven years--so that the seven sabbath years amount to a period of forty-nine years.
Then on the Day of Atonement in the fiftieth year, blow the ram's horn loud and long throughout the land.
Sanctify the fiftieth year as Holy and proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants. (Leviticus 25:8-10)

The verses are self explanatory in the literal sense, however a much deeper understanding is revealed from the knowledge of Kabbalah. Kabbalah at one level is a time piece that shows us the seven days of the week (7 double letters) are connected with the seven lower Sefirot. It is with this knowledge that we Count Omer.
Kabbalah also shows us the twelve months of the year (12 constellations of the Zodiac) as the 12 elemental letters. On another level the 12 elemental letters show us that the 12 constellations of the Zodiac are 12 ages that compose one year of Ages also called a Round of the Ages. Each age is said to last about 2100 years.

When one ages ends and another begins it is not an abrupt change where one minute you are in the old age and the next minute you are in the new age. There is a "Transition of the Ages." The "Transition of the Ages" is Seven Weeks of Years -- seven times seven years -- so the Transition Years between ages amounts to a period of forty-nine years. This happened from 1949-1998 when we made the transition from the Piscean Age to the Aquarian Age.

Just as Kabbalah shows us how to Count Omer of the Year, in the same way Kabbalah also shows us how to "Count Omer of the Ages."

Each of the Seven Sefirot have a spiritual quality or attribute and that attribute is the primary influence for one week.

There is also a Reiki Symbol associated with each week.  Each of the seven days of that week has a minor energy flow of the symbol for the day of the week.

Each week has seven days and on each day of that week there is a secondary attribute that is expressed and received.  For example:

The First Week is Chesed, the week of the attribute of Loving Kindness. For that week you learn and practice Lovingkindness.  The First day of Chesed is called
"Chesed shebe Chesed": Loving Kindness in Lovingkindness.  The second day of Chesed is called "Gevurah shebe Chesed": Discipline in Lovingkindness.  The third day of Chesed is "Tiferet shebe Chesed": Compassion in Lovingkindness and so on for all seven days of the week.

Going Deeper

There are many levels of The Counting of Omer.  It is easy to practice and you can follow along by going to "Week One" and begin by just saying the words "Chesed she'b' Chesed" or the longer OM version and know that it means Loving Kindness in Loving Kindness and this is the attribute to think about and practice for the day.  You can go deeper and contemplate all the aspects shared in "Week One".  You can go even deeper and trace the meridians for each day.  How you practice is up to you. There are no rules. The information below is to give you a better understanding of "The Counting of Omer" and how it relates to the Ten Sefirot of Kabbalah.

The Kabbalah

The Kabbalah is called the Tree of Life.  It is also called the 32 pathways of Nativity. Nativity means the inner pathway of Creation.  The Ten Sefirot and 22 letters of the Hebrew Aleph-Beit together make up the 32 pathways and are all part of Kabbalah.

Kabbalah-Personalities-of-God

"Keter", the Crown, is not a Sefirot but represents the Ineffable One, Tao Great, our Formless Creator.  The Ten Sefirot of nothingness come from The Ineffable One, Tao Great.

"Daat" is the Manifested Presence of Tao Great.  "Daat" is the creative Will of Tao Great and all ten Sefirot. The Will of The Ineffable One and all ten Sefirot is Love.

"Tiferet" is the Sacred Heart of The Ineffable One and the Sacred Heart of all ten Sefirot and is filled with Compassion.

From the Ineffable One, Tao Great, the two were created.  The Two "Binah" and "Chochmah" represent our Mother and Father of Heaven.  In the Zohar it says that the Hebrew Aleph-Beit was given to Binah and Chochmah by Keter.

Binah and Chochmah used the Hebrew Aleph-Beit to Create and manifest all of Creation through their Will "Daat".

Binah and Chochmah first manifested the Three Mother Letters: Shin, Aleph and Mem. They are the three large letters on the horizontal pathways of the Kabbalah... Shin at the Top, Aleph in the Middle and Mem at the Bottom.

From the Three Mother letters are manifested the Seven Double Letters That are associated with The Seven Lower Sefirot and are located on the vertical pathways directly above each Sefirot.

"Chesed" and the double letter "Beit" above it.
"Gevurah" and the double letter "Gimel" above it.
"Tiferet" and the double letter "Daled" above it.
"Netzach" and the double letter "Kaf" above it.
"Hod" and the double letter "Pei" above it.
"Yesod" and the double letter "Reish" above it.
"Malchut" and the double letter "Tav" above it.

The Seven Lower Sefirot and their Letters then manifested the Universe and the twelve constellations of the Zodiac with the 12 elemental letters of the Hebrew Aleph-Beit. The 12 Elemental letters are the letters located on the diagonal pathways. Their names and placement are shown below. But the order in which you read them is from Right to Left. Example:Hei, Vov, Zayin, Chet
Left Side-----Right Side
Vov------------Hei
Chet-----------Zayin
Yud------------Tet
Nun------------Lamed
Ayin------------Samech
Kuf-------------Tzadi

From the Aquarian Gospel

These are the lessons given by Salome to Mother Mary while she was pregnant with Yeshua. (Aquarian Gospel ch.9)

1. Salome taught the lesson of the day.  She said, All times are not alike. Today the words of man may have the greatest power; to-morrow women teaches best.
2. In all the ways of life the man and woman should walk hand in hand; the one without the other is but half; each has a work to do.
3. But all things teach; each has a time and a season for its own.  The sun, the moon have lessons of their own for men; but each one teaches at the appointed time.
4. The lessons of the sun fall down on human hearts like withered leaves upon a stream, if given in the season of the moon and all the stars.
5. To-day one walks in gloom, downhearted and oppressed; tomorrow that same one is filled with joy.
6. To-day the heavens seem full of blessedness and hope; tomorrow hope has fled, and every plan and purpose comes to naught.
7. To-day one wants to curse the very ground on which he treads; tomorrow he is full of love and praise.
8. To-day one hates and scorns and envies and is jealous of the child he loves; tomorrow he has risen above his carnal self, and breathes forth gladness and good-will.
9. A thousand times men wonder why these heights and depths, these light hearts and these sad, are found in every life.
10. They do not know that there are teachers everywhere, each busy with a God- appointed task, and driving home to human hearts the truth.
11. But this is true, and every one receives the lessons that he needs.
12. And Mary said, To-day I am in exultation great; my thoughts and all my life seem lifted up; why am I thus inspired?
13. Salome replied, This is a day of exultation; day of worship and of praise; a day when, in a measure, we may comprehend our Father-God.
14. Then let us study God, the One, the Three, the Seven.
15. Before the worlds were formed all things were One; just Spirit, Universal Breath.
16. And Spirit breathed, and that which was not manifest became the Fire and Thought of Heaven, the Father-God, the Mother-God.
17. And when the Fire and Thought of heaven in union breathed, their son, their only son, was born.  This son is Love whom men have called the Christ.
18. Men call the Thought of heaven the Holy Breath.
19. And when the Triune God breathed forth, lo, seven Spirits stood before the throne. These are Elohim, creative spirits of the universe.
20. And these are they who said, Let us make man; and in their image man was made.
21. In early ages of the world the dwellers in the farther East said, Tao is the name of Universal Breath; and in the ancient books we read,
22. No manifesting form has Tao Great, and yet he made and keeps the heavens and earth.
23. No passion has our Tao Great, and yet he causes sun and moon and all the stars to rise and set.
24. No name has Tao Great, and yet he makes all things to grow; he brings in season both the seed time and the harvest time.
25. And Tao Great was One; the One became the Two; the Two became the Three, the Three evolved the Seven, which filled the universe with manifests.
26. And Tao Great gives unto all, the evil and the good, the rain, the dew, the sunshine and the flowers; from his rich stores he feeds them all.
27. And in the same old book we read of man: He has a spirit knit to Tao Great; a soul which lives within the seven Breaths of Tao Great; a body of desires that springs up from the soil of flesh.
28. Now spirit loves the pure, the good, the true; the body of desires extols the selfish self; the soul becomes the battle ground between the two.
29. And blessed is the man whose spirit is triumphant and whose lower self is purified; whose soul is cleansed, becoming fit to be the council chamber of the manifests of Tao Great.
30. Thus closed the lesson of Salome.
